My husband and I just returned from a vacation where we slept in other beds for 12 nights. Most of them had firmer mattresses than mine, which I appreciate. But I woke up 2-6 times every night and usually had an achy hip in the morning. Hotel pillows look luxurious, but when you lay down, your head goes through the fluff almost to the mattress level.
Last night I was Goldilocks - I laid down in my own bed and it felt just right. I slept through the night and woke feeling relaxed and comfy.
I travel 3-4 times a year, but usually not for this long. I’ve never had quite this sense of appreciation for my bed before. I have a safe home and a nice, clean bed and pillows - a blessing disguised in blanket and flowered bedspread. That shouldn’t be taken for granted, and I will try to remember that.
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make
me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8
